Filip Skurniak
Hey there! 👋
- My name is Filip and my passion is AI. I've been in the IT game for over a decade and have been in the AI space for over 7 years.
- I’ve transitioned from purely technical research roles to business and leadership positions, gaining a deep understanding of technical matters and how to generate business value and ROI with tech.
- Currently, I'm developing AI-powered SaaS to tackle inefficiencies in authenticating second-hand luxury items, effectively preventing counterfeits from entering the market.
- I run a one-stop-shop AI agency that consults companies on AI integration, builds teams to execute technical roadmaps, and delivers innovative solutions that drive real value for SMEs.
- My superpower is the ability to deliver business results with complex, cutting-edge technology in the most cost-effective way.
Bio
- For the last 7+ years, I've specialized in navigating AI solutions from initial concept to end-user adoption.
- Worked in R&D at Samsung's largest research centre in Europe and was the 10th employee to join TCL Research Europe where I worked on global R&D projects in NLP and Computer Vision / Generative AI used by users of TCL and Samsung smartphones worldwide.
- Founded Berlin-based startup to address inefficiencies in food safety testing (mycotoxin detection and foreign body detection) and quality using hyperspectral imaging and machine learning.
- I've successfully brought AI solutions to life in various domains including consumer electronics, food tech / manufacturing, ed-tech, sales enablement, customer service, retail, geospatial, and legal.
- Built and led technical teams for R&D and business projects, generating millions for clients.

I believe…
- In the following approach: Problem → Return On Investment → Solution with the leanest possible use of resources to test hypotheses.
- Boring businesses and verticals are the most interesting.
- AI will disrupt every industry, but LLMs are just one small piece of the puzzle.
- Not every problem needs AI or technology.
- We've let big tech know a bit too much about us, haven't we?
- I'm all in for no-code and low-code movement.
- Relying too much on OpenAI or GPT for products can be a bit risky. Cool for prototyping, but open source is the way to go in the long run.
- Certain inefficiencies are necessary in life.
Personal
- I like to mix work and travel. Working in the city makes me feel like I belong and dive deeper into the culture.
- Love photography. Currently exploring the limits of phone photography. Have a custom-made setup from old Zenith lenses and Sony Alpha camera.
- I love Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese food. I'm obsessed with making my own kimchi.
- I need the outdoors to live. Had two month-long trips campervanning (camping in a car) in Oregon and California.
- I don't enjoy watching sports, but I love playing volleyball (both beach and indoor) and doing CrossFit.
- I'm into crafts - leatherwork and pottery.
- Podcasts are my inspiration. My first million & a16z are my favorite.
